A new thematic website on tropical forests

A new website, produced by CIRAD to mark the International Year of Forests. It is called Working together for tomorrow's tropical forests and contains resources relating to CIRAD's operations and a diary of the events in which the organization will be participating this year.

On the strength of its long experience of tropical forests, CIRAD will be working particularly on the topic of forests during the international year chosen by the UN.

Throughout the year, this thematic website will be providing information on the highlights concerning CIRAD and its researchers, in relation to tropical forests. In France and overseas, CIRAD researchers will be organizing and participating, in 2011, in scientific events, international workshops, and exhibitions . During many of these events, they will be meeting the general public, to familiarize people with tropical forests and the major role they play in our everyday life.

The website also includes numerous resources aimed at enabling a clearer understanding of the main global issues relating to forests: development, environment, the energy crisis, and global warming. These major issues will be illustrated through reports, videos, brochures, animated features, etc.

It presents the forest research conducted by CIRAD, alone and with its partners . The organization has been studying these precious ecosystems, at the heart of a complex set of issues, for more than 50 years.

Lastly, an international diary will list the main events planned for this year, in relation to tropical forests.
