Tropical Managed Forest Observatory Project

L'observatoire des forêts tropicales aménagées: "Tropical managed Forest Observatory" est un nouveau projet de suivi de la dynamique des forêts tropicales aménagées coordonné par le Cirad et financé par le programme Sentinel Landscape du macropragmme 6 du CGIAR, impliquant 15 institutions de recherche. Tmfo met en relation des réseaux de chercheurs nationaux sur des dispositifs de suivi de très longue dans les écosystèmes forestiers des forêts denses d'Amazonie, Afrique centrale et Asie du Sud Est. Son principal objectif est d'évaluer la résilience des forêts tropicales exploitées face aux changements climatiques et leur capacité à produire des biens et des services de façon durable.

The website of the project Tropical managed Tropical Forests (TmFO) has been launched (www.tmfo.org). The TmFO is a new project aiming to monitor the dynamics of tropical managed forests. The project is coordinated by Cirad involves 15 different research institutions and is funded by the Sentinel Landscape program of the CGIAR. TmFO brings together the existing networks of permanent sample plots monitoring in the tropical forest ecosystems of the Amazon, Central Africa and South East Asia. The main objective of the project is to assess the resilience of logged tropical forests in the context of climate change as well as their capacity to provide goods and services sustainably.
