The skills and expertise of the unit

Last update: 20 April 2011

The unit researchers are able to realize expertises in short or long term in the domains of forest resource assessment and in the impact of human activities, including through public policies on these.
  • Estimation of the impact of human activities on the forest environments to analyze the interfaces between ecosystems and social spheres
  • Environmental impact studies
  • Sustainable management of the ligneous resource in the scope of management plans
  • Development plans of production forest  or protected areas
  • Databases of large measures for monitoring forest dynamics (Paracou in French Guiana, M’Baïki in the Central African Republic, Oyane in Gabon)
  • Technical manuals and guidelines for development techniques
  • Maps and computer tools for spatialized forest management
  • Information systems for monitoring and the management of flows (e.g. wood-energy)
  • Systems for indicators of environmental pressure and sustainable management
  • Phytoecological and floristic characterization of the lands occupation units
  • Analysis and understanding of the heterogeneity of the forest cover in different spatial scales and temporal to explain its variability
  • Development and management : production forests, community forests, protected areas…
  • Analysis and diagnosis on the forest sector : sectoral policies, land rent, forest taxation
  • Characterization and mapping of soils
  • Characterization of the genetic diversity by using different markers
  • Database management
  • Implementation, management, monitoring, analysis of permanent study land plots from forest dynamics
  • Inventory protocols of vegetation
  • Proposal of law texts or statutory
  • Tools and modeling platform
