Objectives

Main objective is to contribute to sustainable development of the member countries of the Andean Community, to provide improved quality of life of the respective Amazonian populations and poverty reduction by strengthening environmental management
Specific objective is to improve the sustainable management of biodiversity in Amazonia members of the Andean Community countries, supporting governance, multiculturalism and the full participation of all stakeholders. It seeks to promote and strengthen gender equity, the interaction between different levels of government and improving coalitions within and between regions. All this in the context of the Regional Biodiversity Strategy for the CAN, the Andean Environmental Agenda, and National Strategies on Biodiversity.

Description

The BioCan project is a regional program built on an initiative of the members of the Andean Community countries, the General Secretariat of the Andean Community and the Government of Finland, which consolidate efforts to counter threats to practical non-sustainable use of biodiversity in the Amazon region of the Andean Community.
The Competitive Base BioCan seeks to foster sustainable development of member countries of the Andean Community (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru), to provide improved quality of life to the respective Amazonian populations and poverty reduction through to strengthen environmental management. It therefore aims to support producers of ideas in innovative local management issue, profit, conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.
