Description

The project aims to promote integrated system participatory management of forest resources and farmland compatible with the improvement of living conditions of the Amazonian rural population. Sustainable forest management will be carried out in conjunction with the implementation of sustainable farming techniques and recovery of degraded lands. The project distinguishes the former colonial regions where pastures and secondary forests predominate, and those of more recent colonization where the primary forest predominates. Sites of ancient settlements, activities seek to enhance and sustain the resources and environmental services of secondary forests, as well as the recovery of degraded lands. Sites of recent settlement, the action will promote business-community partnership for logging and develop management methods to optimize the use and exploitation of non-timber forest products.
