A geomatics engineer joins the UPR Forests and Societies

Clarisse vautrin was recruited by CIRAD in May 2023 as a geomatics engineer.

Clarisse trained in wood industry and technology engineering and automation, and spent a decade working with wood processing companies and supporting the wood industry: first managing a cabinetmaking workshop on Reunion Island, she then worked with wood manufacturers and processors in the Congo Basin countries and France, before managing the wood industry at the inter-professional organisation in French Guiana.
On her return from French Guiana and after training in IT development, she went on to work for a company in the digital sector, then completed a masters degree specialising in geomatics on a sandwich course at the Forests and Societies Unit, before being taken on in 2023.
Within the Forests and Societies UPR, she supports the Unit's staff in their geomatics and cartography work: spatial analysis, remote sensing, management of geographic databases, as well as training in geomatics tools.
