Community Forests in Petén Guatemala: Upscaling and Sharing Knowledge

Highlights: the project aims at Upscaling, outscaling and Sharing Knowledge on Community forest management model in the Neotropics.

Community Forests in the biodiversity rich Maya Biosphere Reserve (MBR) Petén, Guatemala, is a leading pioneer example of conservation of forest ecosystems through the action of indigenous peoples and local communities (IPLCs).

  • The Video 1 (Guatecarbon, ACOFOP, Guatemala), illustrates how Community Forests management in the MBR secures ecosystem conservation and local livelihoods through the protection and sustainable use of forest resources within community forest concessions.
