Biomass energy for poverty reduction through decentralized rural electrification - Bioenergelec

The project Bioenergelec wants enhance biomass energy to reduce poverty through decentralized rural electrification. Thermal steam power stations, will be installed in six rural districts of Madagascar to produce electricity from agricultural waste or sawmills.

Objectives

Contribute to :

  • the reduction of rural poverty and the improvement of the living conditions of people dependent on biomass energy
  • the sustainable development of the planted and natural forest ecosystems in four regions of Madagascar to provide biomass-energy for the supply of equipment for decentralized rural electrification (DRE)
  • the generalization of DRE produced from biomass-energy in poor and isolated rural areas in Madagascar.
