Setting up of a seminar on PES in the PESMIX project

The BSEF unit as coordinator of PESMIX project will organize a seminar entitled "How to articulate Payments for Environmental Services to other political and economic instruments in the South and the North countries" to be held in Montpellier from 11 to 13 June 2014 at Agropolis or on Lavalette CIRAD site.

Northern Congo forests phenology analyzed by satellite

CESBIO project entitled 'Spot-4 (Take-5) is dedicated applications' preparation of future satellite constellation Sentinel-2 (http://www.ptsc.fr/fr/produits/spot4-take5) . During the first workshop held at CNES in Toulouse early October, acquisitions led by Valéry Gond on the northeast Congo site were presented.

Tropical forests of Africa: Past, Present and Future

A special issue of the journal Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B on tropical forests in Africa has just been published. Two articles, one written by Valéry Gond, summarize some of the results obtained in the framework of the European project CoForChange coordinated by CIRAD. A second article, written by Sylvie Gourlet-Fleury presents 24 years of evolution of a tropical forest exploited in Central African Republic.

Master "Tropical Plant Biodiversity"

Since the 2013-2014 academic year, UR BSEF has joined the management team of master BVT (“Biodiversité Vegetale Tropicale”, Tropical Plant Biodiversity), University of Montpellier 2 . Charles Doumenge, responsible for the first year of the Master in collaboration with Christine Heinz (UMR AMAP), animated Monday, September 2, 2013, the session returned from promoting the new M1.

Isabelle Tritsch defended her thesis

Isabelle Tritsch defended her thesis in Geography (University of the Antilles and Guyana - UMR ECOFOG - B & SEF) on Monday, May 27, 2013 at CIRAD in Paris. Her subject "Territorial dynamics and identity claims of Indians and Wayampi teko of the Common Camopi (French Guiana)" has been highly rated since she obtained laude with honors. The jury was composed by Eduardo Brondizio (Indiana University), Valéry Gond (CIRAD), Grenand Pierre (IRD), François Michel Le Tourneau (CNRS), Hervé Théry (CNRS) and Bernard Thibaut (CNRS).
